OMSCHRIJVING
Werfzeep's forest soap is an ode to the trees and the forest; to the Wickenburgh forest where many of Werfzeep's ingredients come from and at the work of coniferous tree distiller Henk who makes hydrosol from Scots pine and silver fir for Werfzeep.
In forest soap, the most beautiful of the Wickenburgh forest comes together with Henk's hydrolates. It is a wonderfully earthy and fresh soap full of pine and fir, with extracts of hazel, ash, blackberry leaf and ginkgo biloba.

The leaf and bark of the hazel tree have all kinds of good properties. They have an astringent, astringent and wound healing effect through the combination of flavonoids, tannins and proanthocyanides. As a result, they are used for mild injuries, varicose veins and inflammations such as oral mucosal inflammation and gingivitis.
The hazel is similar in name and effect to the witch hazel but botanically it is not related. The hazel is a member of the birch family, the witch hazel is a member of the Hamamelidaceae. The nuts of the hazel are of course very important in addition to leaf and bark. Hazelnuts and cold-pressed hazelnut oil are as rich in oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid) as olive oil. The hazel is native to Western Europe and Western Asia.
Spruce ( Picea mariana, Abies grandis)
Werfzeep uses a hydrolate from the giant silver fir ( Abies grandis ); this has an antiseptic, bactericidal and fungicidal effect due to, among other things, the bornyl acetate and beta-pinene. This makes it a good helper for colds, flu, eye and ear infections, and all kinds of respiratory diseases. The scent of the spruce gives strength and self-confidence, relieves depression and creates a cheerful mood.
The spruce hydrolate that Werfzeep uses comes from "In the copper kettle". Here Henk Ploeger works with regional (organic) residual products and plant waste from local growers, small businesses or forest and landscape managers. With permission from Staatsbosbeheer and in consultation with the forester, Henk harvests all kinds of coniferous trees in the Chaam forest, including spruce.
