Liu,Yingchun, founder of Suncoat: “Back in 2001, when my then seven-year old little girl first showed interest in nail polish, I took a long, hard look at the ingredients in conventional nail polish, and was horrified to find toxic chemicals such as toluene, formaldehyde releasing ingredients, acetates, phthalate, alcohol etc. As a chemist, I knew how much potential damage these toxic chemicals could do to my innocent little girl.
So I went out to retail stores, searching for a water-based, nontoxic nail polish for my daughter. Much to my surprise however, I failed to find anything at all. There was virtually no water based nail polish on the market.
I had no choice but to develop a water-based nail polish myself. At that point, I began dreaming of introducing a line of non-toxic, environmentally friendly nail polish products to the market for other women and young girls to enjoy.
Although I have worked as a research chemist for many years, only after I started working on water-based nail polish had I realized how difficult it was to formulate a quick drying, long-lasting water-base nail polish. The current formulation for manufacturing Suncoat water-based nail polish is the result of numerous long days in the lab, many sleepless nights in the office, in the library…”
How pure is the line?
Pure! Except for the acrylic copolymers. These are non-toxic, but are necessary to form a layer on the nails. The nails stay healthy! Suncoat is committed to making innovative, high quality products from the best ingredients nature has to offer. In an honest way. Suncoatgirl nail polishes do not contain petrochemical solvents, pthalates, parabens, toluene, perfumes, synthetic dyes. Is vegan and cruelty-free. The nail polish goes much further than "3, 5 or 7 free" because ingredients such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, nitrocellulose, acetone, alcohol and black metals have been replaced by water, polyurethane polymers and acrylic polymers.
What makes the Suncoat products special?
The fact that it was probably the first nail polish in the world to develop a water-based nail polish that is safe for your health. The fact that the founder and product developer herself is a chemist who is very well aware of the potential risks of ingredients. The reason for her to develop cosmetics for her own daughter with only safe ingredients.
More about Yingchun Liu
Ying is not just any chemist who knows about safe water-based paint. She received a bachelor's degree in polymer chemistry from Nanjing University in China. A master's degree in organic chemistry from the University of Calgary (Canada). And was a PhD candidate (1993-1995) (PhD student) at the University of Waterloo (Canada) in organic/biopolymer chemistry. Before starting her own company in 2002, Ying worked for a leading Canadian coatings company. She had more than ten years of work experience as a research chemist in the field of sustainable coatings and water-based resins. And two patented technologies in the field of water-based coatings and resins to her name. The Suncoat water-based nail polish patent (pending) is Ying's 3rd major invention.

Review Suncoat Girl nail polish
There are nail polish brands with water-based nail polish that claim that the plastic used in the polish is biodegradable. Something that, according to Ying (from her chemistry background), is impossible.
