Benefits of a facial oil

More and more often you see special oil blends for the care of your face. What advantages do they have over a face cream? Don't they make your skin oily? Or make them shine? Can you use an oil if you suffer from acne? When do you use an oil and when do you use a cream? You can read more about it in this blog.

Less dry skin with oil

For many of us, the protective layer of the skin is damaged. For example, by using foaming agents that are less pleasant for the skin, products with hard alcohol or scrubbing too hard. The protective layer of your skin naturally consists of oils. By using a facial oil, this protective layer is (partly) restored, so that your skin loses less moisture. And therefore feels less dry and tight.

As you age, your body produces less oil, making your skin drier. New skin cells are also produced more slowly. With a facial oil you replenish oil, so that your skin feels smoother. The hydration of your skin also improves, because the oil forms a protective layer, so you lose less moisture. Vitamins in oils can also help with the production of new skin cells.

A beautiful glow

Many of the oil blends for your face give a beautiful glow to your complexion. This is due to, for example, the use of carrot oil.

Powerful active ingredients - economical in use

Cold-pressed oils and delicately obtained essential oils contain the active ingredients of the plant or flower from which the oil is made. Because the oils are not mixed with water like in most creams, they have a powerful(r) effect on your skin. You only need a little at a time.

But an oil only contains the oil-soluble active ingredients of a plant or flower. A cream with water or aloe vera gel and oils contains both water-soluble and oil-soluble active ingredients. For extra effect on your skin.

To address certain skin challenges, active ingredients are added to a facial care product. Only oil-soluble ingredients can be added to an oil. To a cream with water and oil, both oil- and water-soluble ingredients.

This is not to say that an oil cannot solve skin challenges. There are many powerful oils, with a range of active ingredients, that work well against acne, eczema, scars or redness, for example.

Fewer additives needed

Many creams consist of up to 70% water, an emulsifier that ensures that oil and water do not separate, and often synthetic preservatives. Because the combination of oil and water spoils faster. Your skin doesn't like many of those unnatural additives, which causes it to produce free radicals. They cause skin aging. An oil does not need all those additives.

The facial creams at INDISHA either contain no water or are cleverly formulated in another way, so that no synthetic emulsifiers or preservatives that are less delicate for your skin are needed. Yet they have a long shelf life.

An oil or a facial cream?

That is very personal. You can use an oil instead of a face cream, but also in addition to a face cream or mix a few drops with your face cream. If you mix the oil with your face cream, your skin will retain moisture better and your face (depending on which oil) will have a nice glow. Your skin often indicates what it likes / needs. To discover what your skin likes best, you can do a test by using oil on one half of your face for a while and cream or cream mixed with oil on the other half.

I vary myself. When I first go running or cycling in the morning, I clean my face and massage a few drops of oil. When I get back, I cleanse again gently and use a serum or lotion and then face cream mixed with oil.

Did you know that, for example, cold-pressed jojoba oil contains a high content of vitamin E? As a result, the oil naturally has an SPF effect.

Doesn't an oil make your skin greasy?

A good quality oil does not make your skin greasy. But absorbs quickly. It may sound strange, but acne skin can also benefit from a facial oil. 'Oil cuts oil' is said. If you put oil on your skin, this gives your skin a sign that there is enough oil and that it does not need to be replenished. This can balance sebum production. Oils such as jojoba or geranium have a sebum-regulating effect.

An oil such as Bio Oil is an example of an oil that you should not lubricate. The base is Paraffinum Liquidum. A residual product from the petroleum industry. This does close your skin and can clog your sebaceous glands.

Does an oil make your skin glow?

That depends on the oil. Most good quality oils specially made for the face absorb quickly and do not leave skin shiny. Unless you use too much. One or two pumps / four or five drops of oil is often enough for your entire face. Massage the oil well into your face.
